Celio: Securing Organic Growth During a High-Stakes Migration

Challenge

Celio faced a critical inflection point. With a move to Salesforce Commerce Cloud on the horizon, the risk to organic performance was high. The brand’s organic visibility, built over years, was vulnerable to technical debt, broken migration processes, and shifting indexation.

Beyond the platform transition, Celio needed to:

  • Preserve and grow non-branded search traffic
  • Maintain organic stability across thousands of URLs
  • Build a foundation for scalable, thematic content development
  • Reclaim share in a highly competitive retail SERP environment

In a context where paid media was optimized for efficiency, organic traffic became a strategic growth lever that couldn’t afford disruption.

Strategy

We structured the Organic roadmap around one objective: protect and expand Celio’s non-branded visibility without sacrificing technical integrity during migration.

The Organic strategy focused on three pillars:

  • Technical assurance: Ensure crawlability, indexation, and site performance during and after the platform shift.
  • Non-branded expansion: Capture new demand through semantic targeting and content development.

Template-driven optimization: Prioritize high-traffic templates to scale improvements across the catalog.

Execution

  • Pre-Migration Audit & Safeguards: Ahead of Celio’s migration to Salesforce Commerce Cloud, we ran a full technical audit of the legacy site. This process uncovered redirect chains, canonical mismatches, and underutilized structured data, issues that could compromise search visibility if left unresolved. We also identified the Organic-critical templates and page types to monitor post-launch, and created a benchmark crawl dataset with a tracking protocol to monitor technical health and discoverability from day one.

  • Platform Migration Support: Throughout the migration process, we worked closely with Celio’s development teams to implement key Organic specifications. This included pagination structure, hreflang tags, and faceted navigation controls, ensuring that the new platform preserved crawl logic and user accessibility. We validated redirects and URL structures at scale to retain ranking equity, while deploying log analysis and crawl budget management to concentrate indexing power on high-priority pages during the transition window.

  • Post-Migration Optimization: After launch, we identified underperforming templates and revised structural elements to strengthen non-branded search performance, focusing particularly on category pages and geographic clusters. We enriched both product and editorial content around semantic hubs linked to seasonal trends, styling themes, and customer use cases. Internal linking structures were expanded to support crawlability and reinforce contextual relationships across key page groups.

  • Content Strategy & Expansion: To scale long-term visibility, we developed a thematic content roadmap based on search trend analysis and demand clusters. Topics were prioritized for production, aligning editorial efforts with both organic opportunity and inventory availability. We also introduced location-based optimizations to capture proximity queries and boost visibility for local intent searches.

Impact

Celio’s Organic channel went from reactive to resilient. The migration, a known risk point for traffic volatility, became an opportunity to rebuild stronger foundations.

By reinforcing technical integrity, scaling content strategically, and focusing on high-potential templates, Celio didn’t just preserve its visibility,it expanded it.

Organic traffic is now a reliable growth engine, decoupled from media spend and embedded into the brand’s long-term acquisition model.
